Jeremy Zag will receive Deadline’s 2026 French TV Disruptor Award.
Zag founded the iconic Zag Entertainment banner in 2009 and it went on to become a leading international animation studio, responsible for shows including global hit Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.
France has traditionally had a dynamic animation sector and Zag has been in the vanguard. A producer, director, writer, and composer for both film and TV, Zag will receive his French TV Disruptor Award at the Unifrance Rendez-Vous event, which is the largest market of the year dedicated to buying and selling French-language programming. It is appropriate, given Zag’s shows have traveled far and wide and are on streaming platforms and channels around the world.
Zag is a co-creator of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir alongside Thomas Astruc and Nathanaël Bronn. It follows two Parisian teens who transform into the titular superheroes to fight supervillains and baddies. As well as multiple seasons of the show and TV specials, there has been a successful feature adaptation. Other Zag shows include Ghostforce, Zak Storm and Power Players.
In 2024, Zag partnered with French super-indie Mediawan to create Miraculous Corp, a joint venture to handle – and expand – the Miraculous franchise.
Zag will sit down with Deadline at the Rendez-Vous to discuss the business, and his approach to building animation franchises and connecting with younger audiences.
He follows in the footsteps of Fanny Herrero (Call My Agent!), who received last year’s French TV Disruptor Award. The award will be presented to Zag at the closing cocktail reception at the Rendez-Vous, which is a glitzy affair held at the historic Montivilliers Abbey and hosted by Hervé Morin, President of the Normandy Region.
Deadline’s Disruptors strand is well established with a renowned annual Cannes Disruptors magazine and International Disruptors column. The French TV Disruptor Award is in recognition of Zag’s contribution to the world of TV.
