Mumford & Sons surprised fans at their BST Hyde Park headline show by bringing out Shania Twain and Hozier – check out footage below.
The alt-folk veterans took to the Great Oak Stage for the 2026 summer series last night (July 4), with the huge slot coming in support of their sixth studio album ‘Prizefighter‘ – which dropped last month and features huge names like Hozier, Gracie Abrams, Chris Stapleton, and Gigi Perez – and also comes 10 years after they first headlined.
Kicking off with ‘Begin Again’ from that album, Marcus Mumford told fans: “Good evening my friends, we’re Mumford & Sons and after all this time, in our hometown, we didn’t come to fuck around.”
They then stormed through ‘I Will Wait’, ‘White Blank Page’, ‘Lover Of The Light’, ‘Hopeless’ and ‘Badlands’, before being joined by “the kindest man in music” in Hozier, who joined them for their collab ‘Rubber Band Man’ and ‘Awake My Soul’.
Later on in the set, they teased that they had another “cheeky surprise” in store, with Mumford admitting: “It was a surprise for us too actually – let’s just give it up for Shania Twain”.

The country star arrived fresh from her support slot at Wembley Stadium for Harry Styles’ ‘Together, Together’ tour, Twain joining Mumford & Sons for ‘Here’ – a newer track that was originally recorded with Chris Stapleton.
“Shania Twain is my fucking hero, ladies and gents,” Mumford said. “You don’t understand. You don’t understand, you don’t get it. This is a very big deal for me. And guess what? She played Wembley Stadium tonight, and she’s here. That is gangster.”
She returned the praise, saying it “so awesome” to be there. “What are we going to do now?” she asked the Hyde Park fans. “Are we going to jam out something sassy?” After a resounding yes, they launched into ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman’.
They rounded off their set with ‘The Cave’, and Mumford gave one last thanks to the crowd. “I’m lost for words tonight,” he told them. “All I’m thinking about is the football and Shania Twain. If all of you mother fuckers keep showing up, we’ll keep going.”

Mumford & Sons caught up with NME back in November, with frontman Mumford touching on the ways he felt the new record “elevates” their sound.
“All these things are subjective, we’re probably the worst judges of this and most artists would say this about their most recent work, but I feel like we’re in our prime and that we’re writing the best songs we’ve ever written,” he said.
“I don’t say that about every record, and I really feel strongly about this one. ‘Rushmere’ was super helpful for us getting back in a room with Dave Cobb [producer] really holding out feet to the fire about who we are as artists and what we want to do.”
