KATSEYE are bringing an old Charli xcx song to life over a decade after it was first written!
The “PINKY UP” girl group are releasing their new mini-album WILD on Friday (August 14), and one song on the tracklist – “Bel Air” – has a special history involving the 34-year-old Brat superstar.
The track is said to have originally been penned and recorded for Charli‘s 2014 sophomore record Sucker, and produced by “Boom Clap” producer Stefan Gräslund, Patrik Berger, Jarrad Rogers (AKA MSTR Rogers), and Martin Stilling.
“Bel Air” had long floated around in various versions unofficially over the years, including one version reworked by the late SOPHIE. Now, it’s finally seeing the light of day.
The brand new version of the track is featured on WILD, featuring new production and different lyrics.
“When you were mine / We said we’d run away / Away from here / And disappear / We’d leave it all behind / When you were mine / You gave me paradise / Then took the key / Now, look at me / I’m leaving you behind,” they declare.
