The Conjuring is certainly not over, as New Line has found their new Ed and Lorraine Warren in Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix for the prequel The Conjuring: First Communion.Rodrigue Huart is directing from a screenplay by Richard Naing & Ian Goldberg. NLC hired Haunt to direct off a short film. The project is moving forward for a theatrical release of Sept. 10, 2027.

Peter Safran is producing for the Safran Company with the label’s John Rickard, Natalia Safran, and Romel Adam executive producing.   Wareing currently is a series regular on Netflix’s Ransom Canyon, which debuted at #1 in the U.S. and has been renewed for a second season. His recent film work includes Lionsgate’s The Long Walk, whose ensemble was recognized with the Robert Altman Award at the 2026 Film Independent Spirit Awards, and Chasing Summer, which premiered at Sundance. Wareing’s prior credits include Independence Day: Resurgence and the Netflix drama Manifest. The actor is repped by 23 Management Group, WME, and Myman Greenspan Fineman Fox Rosenberg & Light. Amanda Fix stars in the upcoming Plan B feature Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, which premiered at Cannes, and can currently be seen in the Duffer Brothers’ Netflix series Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. Her past credits include North of Normal, Daisy Jones & the Six, High School, and Orphan Black: Echoes. The actress is represented by Link Entertainment and Black Bear. The Conjuring Universe is the highest grossing horror franchise of all time with over $2.7 billion. New Line smashed records as the only production label ever to gross $1 billion worldwide in a single year from horror—accomplished twice: in 2017 and again in 2025. Adding to the record books in 2025, the release of Final Destination: Bloodlines pushed the franchise past $1 billion worldwide, making it New Line’s third billion-dollar horror franchise. They had already set the benchmark with two: It and It Chapter Two ($1.1B) and the powerhouse Conjuring Universe ($2.7B).
