Kelly Clarkson had a great time at her last show!
The 44-year-old Breakaway singer performed her final Studio Sessions show on Saturday night (August 15) at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
During the evening, she had a hilarious reaction to seeing a fan wearing a From Justin to Kelly tee, learning that it was bought on Etsy. (“Oh my God, all of my money goes there,” she said.)
“Well, it’s an Oscar-worthy number. It’s called From Justin to Kelly,” she announced to the crowd.
“Contractually…obligated,” she said as she hilariously flipped the bird while discussing the film she made after winning American Idol in 2002, co-starring runner-up Justin Guarini.
“I didn’t know if you won, you had to do a movie. And, like, not all of us wanna be Meryl Streep. We just like watching her, okay? Like, I didn’t want to be in a movie. And they were like, ‘Yeah, you won.’ And I was like, ‘I feel like I’m losing. This doesn’t feel quite like a win,’ you know?” she amusingly went on to say.
“It was hard because, you know what it is? I respect actors so much. I respect what they do. Even after having a talk show, man, meeting people, it’s insane how much rejection they get and how much they keep going. It’s just insane. And it’s such a cool thing that I love. But yeah, that was not what I wanted to do,” she went on.
“That particular scene, though, I do like dancing, so I liked the dancing. I was like, ‘I get to work with choreography? Okay, okay. Choreography, that’s cool.’ But your shirt is funny, and I would rock the s–t out of that and wear it. Just, like, in Target, and people would look at me and be like, ‘What? You don’t know how cool it is.’ But cool. It is funny.”
She also amusingly shared that her kids are “banned” from watching it, and revealed one positive to the experience.
“There was something I will say that was nice about that. I got to work with Tommy [Sims]. Justin and I really liked the producer. Working with him was incredible. But the music part, that was dope. See? You gotta find the positive, motherf–kers. Turn that s–t into lemonade. Cry yourself to sleep. Anyway, you’re funny, and you win the night.”
She also put on a Dallas Cowboys shirt as the crowd playfully booed in response, which she egged on.
“I love the boos, actually. So intoxicating,” she teased.
“Do you wanna know why? Because it’s almost fantasy football season. And I’m not gonna lie, I’m not hating on Vegas, okay? Y’all have some players here that I might be putting on my team, okay? But, like, what kind of loser just votes for their home team, right?” she continued as the crowd also cheered.
At the end of the show, Kelly performed “Since U Been Gone” as her kids adorably tossed guitar picks and ping pong balls to the audience as they watched their mom.
Kelly has two children with her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock: a 12-year-old daughter named River Rose and a 10-year-old son named Remington Alexander. She was also a stepmother to his two older children, Savannah and Seth, from a previous marriage.
She also revealed she had to break-up with the same person twice.
