Samantha Busch is keeping her promise to her late husband Kyle Busch.
The 40-year-old shared her final conversation with her husband of 15 years—with whom she shared kids Brexton, 11, and Lennix, 4—before his unexpected death on May 21.
"In the hospital, I made Kyle a promise. I promised him that I would do everything I could to help our children pursue their dreams no matter what," Samantha revealed in an emotional passage shared to Instagram June 10, alongside photos of herself and their children on a North Carolina racetrack. "For Brexton, that dream is racing."
While the late 41-year-old was a NASCAR Hall of Famer, along with his brother Kurt Busch, he let Brexton find his love for the sport on his own.
"It wasn’t a dream Kyle chose for him. It was something they shared. They spent countless hours talking about race cars, working together, dreaming together, and building a bond around something they both genuinely loved," Samantha scribed, adding that "racing is what lights Brexton up and as long as it’s the dream in his heart, I’ll be right there beside him, cheering him on every step of the way."
And that's not the only thing Kyle shares in common with his eldest child.
"Watching Brexton back at the track is both heartbreaking and beautiful all at once because there are moments when I catch a glimpse of Kyle in him, the same determination, the same passion, the same spark, and for a second it feels like a piece of him is still right here with us," Samantha continued. "These moments are incredibly hard, but they also remind me that Kyle’s story isn’t over. It lives on through the dreams he inspired and the two children he loved more than anything."
In the wake of Kyle’s passing, Samantha has also been open about her family’s grief during what she described as “the most heartbreaking days of our lives.”
"The love that has surrounded our family during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain," she shared in a June 5 Instagram. "Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people. There are moments when the weight of this loss feels impossible to carry, yet time and time again God, through you all, has shown us we are not alone."
For Brexton's part, he’s turned to racing for comfort.
"Felt really good to get racing again," Brexton wrote on Instagram June 6 alongside photos from the CookOut Summer Shootout, where he placed sixth and second in two separate races. "Learn and move on to the next one, thank you to everyone for the support."
