Carpenter Brut comes to Fortnite from May 29 to June 26 in an immersive and gamified racing project with nods to the Hellfest summer rock festival.
Darkwave synth artist Carpenter Brut is in Fortnite for a limited time, thanks to the ARTE Riff Mountain project, an immersive and gamified island inspired by the Hellfest summer heavy metal festival. The Turbo Killer Experience event kicked off over the weekend and runs through June 26, including a performance by Carpenter Brut.
The project was born from ARTE France’s desire to offer its first experience in Fortnite, and the creative and technological acumen of SoWhen?, with Unreal Editor for Fortnite. Their teams imagined and shaped a new immersive world in Fortnite, punctuated by a strong artistic direction, where the player becomes an actor in a story set to the sound of pulsating metal.
The creation sits at the crossroads of gameplay, music, and narration inspired by Hellfest—of which ARTE is a longtime partner—and by metal cultures. ARTE Riff Mountain promises an immersive and collective narration, where each player “participates in the writing of a legend punctuated by metal.”
This island immerses gamers and metalheads in an accessible, immersive experience, offering a huge playground full of nods to different metal cultures in which the player can:
- beat different challenges related to metal music,
- join one of the four clans and participate in various events to defend their colors,
- discover the different subgenres of metal, and the legends who forged them,
- share unique moments with the community.
The Turbo Killer Experience, an event performance by Carpenter Brut, invites players to dive in from May 29 to June 26. The interactive musical performance immerses players in the universe of Carpenter Brut, recorded using motion capture technology and then integrated into the game.
After choosing their vehicle, players will be launched into a frantic race punctuated by music, with quick-time sequences and collectibles to help maximize their score. The environment reacts to the music, vibrates at its tempo, and extends the unique aesthetic of the artist.
ARTE Riff Mountain is accessible to all players of Fortnite free of charge, on all devices that can play the game. The project was produced by ARTE France and SoWhen?, alongside The CreaTech Company and Zorba Production, with the support of the CNC and Hellfest. It is available in French, English, Germany, and other languages depending on user location.
