Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney met in 2018 while working on the musical Hadestown and they ended up in a real-life relationship. Now, they’re on the big screen together in a pro-shot version of the show!
Amid Hadestown‘s release in movie theaters, Eva and Reeve are opening up about their love story, how their relationship began, and the sacrifices they make by being a married couple working on Broadway.
While chatting with People, the couple revealed that they waited about six months before they started dating!
Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney have been together since 2019
Though they met in 2018, Reeve and Eva were just friends for the first six months that they knew each other. They’ve been a couple for seven years now.
“There are things known on Broadway or in theater as ‘showmances.’ It was very clear to us from the beginning that’s not what this was,” Reeve told People.
He added, “We became best friends first, for six months before we got together as boyfriend and girlfriend — back seven years ago now.”
They make major sacrifices as a couple working on Broadway
Broadway actors perform eight times a week and usually just have one day off. They’re also working nearly every night of the week, rarely having time to spend with their families.
“The only difficult thing is the demand of the voice and body and your free time,” Eva told People.
She added, “I haven’t had Christmas with my family in 13 years. You have to make a lot of sacrifices to do what you do at the level that you choose to do it at. For Reeve and I, we love working together. We’re each other’s best friends on top of being husband and wife.”
Luckily, Eva and Reeve keep working together!
Eva and Reeve starred in Hadestown together for years, until she left the show to appear in Broadway’s The Great Gatsby and then serve as a replacement Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Reeve eventually joined her in both shows.
Reeve and Eva did a run in Cabaret together in London and they teamed up again in The Great Gatsby this year.
