Set as Katie Taylor’s final fight, one of the greatest fighters in boxing is going for the undisputed title. Irish boxer Katie Taylor defense her WBO, IBF and WBA women’s super lightweight (junior welterweight) championship belts against French fighter Flora Pili. Additionally, the vacant WBC women’s super lightweight title is on the line, so the winner would receive all four belts. The bout is scheduled for 10 rounds.
On Saturday, Sept. 5, Taylor (25-1-0) vs. Pili (12-0-0) takes place at Croke Park Stadium in Dublin, Ireland with a start time of 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT. Ringwalk for the main event is expected around 5:10 p.m. ET/2:10 p.m. PT.
At age 40, Taylor is set to go into boxing retirement no matter the outcome of the title bout. Win or lose, she would go down in history as one of the most iconic female boxer of all-time. However, if Taylor does end up with the undisputed title again (it would be her third time), it would be the end of an era and a storybook ending to an exceptional career in boxing. But, if Pili wins the bout, it would be like Taylor passing the torch to a new generation of fighter.
With Katie Taylor competing against Flora Pili in Ireland, it’s likely the boxing event may feature a number of celebrities in attendance, including Taylor fans like Conor McGregor, Amanda Serrano, Ryan Garcia, Charlize Theron and others.
