The Television Academy is making a significant change to this year’s Emmy Awards nominations rollout.

The organization announced on Tuesday (June 16) that all nominations for the 2026 Emmy Awards will now be revealed on July 8, rather than being split across two separate announcement dates.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Academy had originally planned to unveil most nominations on July 8 while holding several craft categories until July 15. Those categories rely on peer-group screening panels as part of the voting process.

The Academy said the updated schedule was implemented to better align with promotional campaign timelines for Emmy contenders.

Nine additional categories will now be included in the July 8 announcement, including several cinematography, music composition, and sound editing races.

Among them are Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (Half-Hour), Outstanding Cinematography for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, and multiple Outstanding Music Composition and Sound Editing categories.

Nomination-round voting for the 2026 Emmys is scheduled to conclude on June 22. Final-round voting will then take place from August 17 through August 26.

This year’s Emmy Awards ceremony will air live on NBC and Peacock on September 14 at 8 p.m. ET/. The Creative Arts Emmys, which honor many of television’s technical and behind-the-scenes achievements, are set for September 5 and September 6.
