Spencer Pratt conceded defeat in the race for Los Angeles mayor on Friday, painting a bleak picture of the city’s future under either of his opponents and vowing to continue to “expose this corrupt machine.”
Pratt, a Republican and former star of “The Hills,” finished third in the June 2 primary behind two Democrats, incumbent Karen Bass and Councilwoman Nithya Raman, whom Pratt described in his concession as “these commie animals.”
As Raman surpassed him in the vote count five days after election day, Pratt suggested that the count was suspicious. President Trump has also stoked claims of election fraud, as have many other Pratt supporters on social media.
“Not possible for Spencer Pratt to have lost the L.A. runoffs after the big lead he had,” Trump wrote. “3rd World Nation. Rigged Elections!”
Raman now holds a 30,000 vote lead over Pratt, a margin of about 3.5%. In a three-minute video posted on X on Friday morning, Pratt conceded that he will not be the next mayor, saying he “didn’t get in this for political power.”
Bass and Raman have turned their focus to the general election, with Raman making a particular effort to court Pratt’s voters. But Pratt seemed disinclined to endorse either one, calling them “two corrupt communists.”
“Angelenos are now stuck with two morons responsible for all their problems, and they have to choose between dumb and dumber,” he said in the video. “That’s not a choice, that’s the machine protecting the machine.”
Pratt also said that he will proceed with his campaign to expose City Hall corruption unfettered by campaign finance law and without having to “worry about offending CNN viewers.” He repeated his campaign themes of homelessness, crime, and general squalor, predicting conditions will become worse under either Raman or Bass.
“You have no idea how bad things are about to get for this city,” he said. “The city is a mess, and you’re about to reward the arsonists who torched the place with four more years of destruction… My goal hasn’t changed. I’ve been laser focused on stopping these commie animals, and I will stop them.”
Pratt also claimed to have a secret recording of one of the candidates that would prompt them to “resign in disgrace,” and envisioned the exposure culminating in an FBI raid.
“We’re flipping the script,” he said. “I want all of you awake at night, sweating and worried about 5 a.m. getting the FBI blazers busting the door, breaking open your office, because I assure you, they’re coming.”
Pratt currently has 25.5% of the citywide vote, with strongholds on the Westside and in the western portion of the San Fernando Valley. Trump won 26.5% of the vote in Los Angeles in 2024.
