EXCLUSIVE: Alex Kavutskiy has rounded out the cast of his feature directorial debut, the dark comedy Little One, with four additions: Mark O’Brien (Nuremberg), Elias Koteas (The Thin Red Line), Carmen Christopher (Never Change!), and Jamie McShane (Task).
Character details for these four are under wraps, with production underway in Los Angeles under a California tax credit. As we told you first, David Harbour and Gaby Hoffmann lead the film, reuniting the Weapons producing duo of Zach Cregger and Roy Lee, which also stars Amy Smart, Chiara Aurelia, Redding Munsell, and Derek Luh.
Little One watches as a sudden change in a child’s behavior threatens to tear a picture-perfect family apart. The film is financed by Alex Lebovici’s Hammerstone Studios, in a reunion with Barbarian collaborators Cregger and Lee.
Kavutskiy penned the script and is producing alongside Chris McEwen (Love, Simon), Amanda Phillips and Melina Torres of Soto Productions (Winner, The Assistant), and Lebovici. Ibrahim Mohammed of Script 2 Screen is exec producing and co-financing alongside Chase Vergari. Kevin G. Lee is exec producing for Astria Studios, which is providing additional financing, with First Take Media Capital and David Goldman also aboard as EPs, along with Michael Learner, Karina Manashil and Sian McArthur under Hammerstone. Sacker Entertainment Law is handling production legal.
The project, which we scooped in April, marks a return to his roots for Cregger, a founding member and writer for the New York comedy troupe, The Whitest Kids U’ Know.
Coming off of roles in James Vanderbilt’s Nuremberg and Peacock’s The Copenhagen Test, opposite Simu Liu, O’Brien will be seen coming up in Warner Bros.’ F.A.S.T. and Netflix’s conspiracy thriller series Trinity from Jed Mercurio. He is repped by UTA, The Characters Talent Agency, Thruline Entertainment, and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols.
Known for films like The Thin Red Line and A24’s Janet Planet, Koteas is coming off of five seasons starring in Chicago P.D. on NBC. He is repped by Kipperman Management and RLG.
Best known for roles on the FX series The Bear and English Teacher, Christopher was recently seen in A24’s Tim Robinson comedy Friendship and will next appear in the comedy Never Change!, which just premiered at the Tribeca Festival and releases on Hulu on June 17. He is repped by Rise Management, CAA, and Felker Mcginnis & Ryan.
Recently seen in sizeable roles on the series Task, Wednesday and 1923, McShane is repped by Paradigm and Trademark Talent.
