Getdown Services have shared the “saddest song we’ve ever written” – check it out below.

The downbeat single ‘Cha Cha Slide’ from the Bristol disco-duo follows ‘I Can’t Die Like That’ from their upcoming second album ‘Massive Champion’.

The record follows on from the recent NME cover stars‘ 2023 cult classic debut ‘Crisps’. It is set for release on August 14 via Breakfast Records and is available to pre-order here.

“This song is about the feeling of everyone else somehow knowing what to do. It’s about a feeling I’d get as a child that has never quite left me; that I just don’t really know what to do at social occasions,” said vocalist and guitarist Josh Law.

“It’s about realising that trying to connect with and understand people is a lifetime of trial and error. It’s probably the saddest song we’ve ever written.”

The video also features someone dressed as a giant Minion dancing on a cliff top.

Law’s partner in crime Ben Sadler recently described the new album as an “odyssey of anarchic joy, seditious wit and boundless energy” and one that sees them push their sound into more emotional and absurd directions than ever before.

Getdown Services will embark on a UK and Ireland headline tour later this year, with shows kicking off in Cardiff on November 19. Dates include stops in Brighton, Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, London and more over the following two months.

The tour ends with two homecoming shows at the Beacon in Bristol on January 16 and 17 2027. Before the headline tour starts, the band have a number of festival appearances lined up for this summer, including appearances at LatitudeGreen ManTruck Festival and more. Visit here for tickets and check out their tour dates here.

They also recently performed at the Harry Styles-curated Meltdown Festival last month.

Speaking to NME ahead of that performance, Law said: “It’s just mental to us that we’d be considered, really. The lineup is insane. We do genuinely like his music, and he’s a nice guy, by all accounts.

“Hopefully, we can keep it up and be invited to more events like this – maybe one curated by Little Mix, or Olly Murs. And we’ll just keep working our way downwards until we get to One True Voice.”
