EXCLUSIVE: Sumerian Pictures has acquired U.S. and Canadian distribution rights to dark comedy Chili Finger, which premiered at SXSW and stars Judy Greer, Sean Astin, Bryan Cranston and John Goodman.
Chili Finger marks the co-directorial debut of Edd Benda and Stephen Helstad under their Beyond the Porch banner. Written by Helstad, the film follows Jessica Lipki (Greer), a small-town lawyer who discovers a severed human finger in her bowl of chili at a regionally beloved fast-food chain.
Pic is produced by Sam Sandweiss and Jo Henriquez. Rob Williams, President of Sumerian Pictures, negotiated the acquisition on behalf of Sumerian Pictures with Jessica Lacy of Gersh on behalf of the filmmakers.
Additional cast include Dann Florek, Madeline Wise, Sarah Herrman, Sara Sevigny, and Paul Stanko.

Sumerian’s slate includes Sundance Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award winner Josephine, starring Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan, the romantic comedy Mile End Kicks, and Horsegirls, directed by Lauren Meyering.
