Snap’s AR Studio Paris announces an augmented reality experience, recreating moments inspired by the Beatles’ musical legacy and evolution.
Today, Snap’s AR Studio Paris unveiled a new augmented reality experience that recreates four iconic moments inspired by the Beatles’ visual and musical evolution. The lens promises a musical journey at the heart of one of the most influential musical and enduring cultural legacies of all time.
The activation celebrates the band’s impact and “playfully transforms people across The Fab Four’s artistic and stylistic evolution.” At launch, users will choose one of three iconic Beatles tracks—”Hey Jude,” “Here Comes the Sun,” or “Let It Be.” The selected song then accompanies them throughout the experience as they navigate between the band members and their four major eras.
The project highlights Snap’s ability to bring culture to life in new ways via augmented reality. By leveraging its unique tools, Snap’s AR Studio Paris believes it has succeeded in recreating the aesthetic energy of the different Beatles eras while offering a deeply personal experience.
This activation relies on AR technologies that enable “unprecedented realism,” including:
- Gaussian Splat, to reproduce the band’s iconic hairstyles and silhouettes
- AR Lip-Sync, to synchronize vocal performances and “heighten the sense of embodiment”
- 3D Garment Morphing, to transform outfits in real time and reflect the visual evolution of the band
With these innovations, Snap’s AR Studio Paris promises to deliver an experience no other platform can offer.
“Our ambition with this project was to demonstrate how augmented reality can breathe new life into the cultural icons that have shaped our collective memory. Experiencing the Beatles in AR is a reminder that this technology doesn’t just tell a story—it allows people to step into it. We are proud to use our technology to carry forward a timeless legacy and share it with every generation,” said Antoine Gilbert, Head of AR Studio Paris, Snap Inc.
To launch the Lens, users can open the Snapchat app and select the Lens “The Fab Four,” available in the Lens carousel or from scanning the Lens’ Snapcode.
Once the Lens activates, the user will appear in the looks, starting with John and moving through Paul, George, and Ringo. When prompted, turn on sound for music and lip-sync, which automatically makes users appear to sing one of the aforementioned Beatles hits. Users can also share their transformations with friends, send them as a Snap, or post them to their Story.
Through this installation, Snap’s AR Studio Paris aims to help Snapchat users experience the Beatles’ world through an innovative Lens, enabling exploration of the group’s styles, sounds, and creativity.
