Ahead of the show’s season three premiere, the actress—who has played Rue Bennett since its inception in 2019—weighed in on whether she thinks the third installment will be the series’ last.
“I think so, yeah,” Zendaya said on the April 2 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show. “That closure is coming.”
E! News has reached out to HBO for comment but did not receive a response.
Though HBO has not officially confirmed whether season three is Euphoria’s last, many fans have assumed it would be the end after there was a four-year hiatus between season two and three.
The delay was due in part to the cast—which also includes Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow, Hunter Schafer and Alexa Demie—becoming bigger stars in Hollywood, which made it increasingly difficult to balance their schedules. Additionally, the Euphoria family lost one of their own in 2023 when star Angus Cloud—who played character Fezco—died at age 25 following an accidental overdose.
Regardless of when the show ends, Zendaya knows one thing to be true: playing Rue has changed her for the better.
“Euphoria, it cracked my heart open,” the 29-year-old told Drew Barrymore. “Rue taught me so much about life. That crew also has seen me grow up. I owe so much to that show.”
“Rue taught me so much about empathy and about redemption,” Zendaya, who has won two Emmys for her work in Euphoria, continued. “She taught me a lot, and I'm very grateful for all of it.”
Season three—which premieres on April 12—will feature a time jump that follows the cast into their adult lives after graduating high school.
Zendaya previously said she was all in favor of the fast-forward, telling Entertainment Weekly in 2024, “I know it's important because there's only so much high school drama you can deal with.”
“To me, at least, it is [exciting], and it will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school,” the Challengers alum added. “And how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the kind of adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world.”
Fans finally got a glimpse at what’s to come in a new trailer that dropped on March 30—and it's safe to say there’s no shortage of drama.
In fact, show creator Sam Levinson said he’s so confident about the new season that he thinks the others don’t even compare.
As he told Variety in December 2025, “I feel strongly this is our best season yet.”
