Keep calm—Prince Harry is carrying on with King Charles III.
Contrary to rumors that the pair are still estranged, the Duke of Sussex has been in touch with his dad since returning to the United Kingdom with his wife Meghan Markle and their kids Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, for an extended stay.
In fact, the 41-year-old—who touched down in England on Aug. 26—spoke with Charles, 77, over the phone during his first week back on home soil, according to multiple outlets.
And while Harry's relationship with the monarch did hit a rough patch when he and Meghan, 45, stepped back from their royal duties and relocated to California in 2020, the father-son duo have been taking steps to dispel any tension between them in recent years.
After all, the Spare author returned to the U.K. several times after Charles went public with his cancer diagnosis in 2024.
However, this does not mean Harry and Meghan's status as non-working royals—a term the couple previously agreed to—has shifted now that they're staying in the U.K. for some time.
As a Sept. 7 letter penned by Lord Chamberlain Richard Benyon on behalf of Charles stated, "Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used."
"The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity," the memo continued. "In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests."
Though the letter noted that Charles decided to put out this guidance "to help avoid doubt or confusion," a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan told the BBC the couple was “little surprised not to have been told about this in advance.”
Still, Harry is hopeful he and Charles can mend their rift. As he told the outlet last year, "I would love reconciliation with my family."
"There's no point continuing to fight any more," Harry added. "Life is precious."
