Legendary voice actor Peter Cullen has passed away at the age of 85.
TMZ reports that he passed away on Wednesday (August 26) at his home in Los Angeles. No cause of death was confirmed.
Peter Cullen’s family confirmed his passing in a statement
His family released a statement: “Peter Cullen passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family – and held in the hearts of his many friends and countless fans worldwide. His family asks that you honor his remarkable legacy by serving your communities and leading others with compassion, integrity, and loyalty and always remember ‘be strong enough to be gentle.'”
Peter Cullen voiced many roles you may recognize
If you don’t know, the Canadian voice actor was best known for bringing Optimus Prime to life in the Transformers franchise. He first voiced the Autobot leader in the original 1980s animated series and later returned to the role for the live-action films and other Transformers projects.
He also voiced Eeyore in Disney’s Winnie the Pooh projects, along with roles such as Monterey Jack in Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers and KARR in Knight Rider. He worked for six decades in voice animation.
