The Selling Sunset alum debuted a major hair transformation in honor of her 45th birthday July 21, showing off her new “Whiskey Copper” shade courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton.

The color was quite the departure from her signature brunette locks, with Stause joking in a July 21 Instagram Story, “Sorry for the whiplash guys. He wanted to spice it up and I have learned to just always say yes to Chris when he has an idea for your hair.”

The reality star added in a follow up video, “I really do love it. I think it’s just so fun.”

Appleton walked fans through the behind-the-scenes of Stause’s new look, posting a video of the two to Instagram on her birthday.

“Today we're going to transform Chrishell’s hair into a whiskey copper,” the celebrated stylist began in the video. “And I can't wait.”

He and Stause then laughed about what it was like doing her hair at home as she laid on a counter with her head in a large sink.

“This is the reality of coloring your hair at home,” Appleton quipped. “How’s your salon experience?” to which Stause replied, “It’s beautiful.”

The end result was a vibrant coppery red, with Appleton noting he mixed together a darker color and a lighter color from Schwarzkopf Professional to make the hair “look shiny and healthy.”

Of course, Stause—who married G Flip in 2023—was thrilled by the results, thanking Appleton multiple times for the transformation as she exclaimed, “I really love it.”

It’s no wonder that Stause put her trust in Appleton, whose client list boasts names like Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and Ariana Grande. But his work can certainly come with a hefty price tag, as he recently defended charging $200,000 for a prior styling appointment with an unnamed client.

“It was a lot of traveling and it was a whole commitment,” Appleton explained on Great Company With Jamie Laing in May. “So when you break it down, it's not as much. Also 50 percent tax in America—that's half. And then your agent takes 20 percent, and then your business manager takes five.”

But, as the 43-year-old noted, his work has a range of prices, adding, “There's plenty of times I do work for free. There’s plenty of times I don't get paid that amount of money.”
