Port Charles may have a dashing new doctor on call.

Alimi Ballard is joining the cast of General Hospital as new character William Baines, multiple outlets confirmed.

The actor—best known for appearing on the '90s sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch and crime dramas including Numb3rs and CSI—will reportedly make his debut on the long-running ABC soap opera on the Sept. 3 episode. Additional details about Ballard's character and storyline have yet to be revealed.

In addition to portraying the Quizmaster on Sabrina and FBI agent David Sinclair on Numb3rs, the 48-year-old's impressive list of TV appearances also include Criminal Minds, NCIS: Los Angeles, Queen Sugar, Castle, One of Us Is Lying, Lucifer, Elementary, Law & Order and The Rookie, among many more.

Most recently, fans may recall Ballard's guest appearance on a March 2026 episode of Grey's Anatomy in which he played patient Brent Wilson during season 22.

Ballard's arrival in Port Charles is somewhat of a homecoming for the star, who got his start in Hollywood on the since-canceled ABC soap Loving. He originated the role of Frankie Hubbard in 1993 before transitioning the character to spinoff series The City in 1995.

"I got that job in August of 1993, my first, true on-camera series regular," Ballard recalled during a 2020 interview with Theatre Corner. "It was my first entry into being a real professional actor, the whole audition process."

Ballard admitted he learned a lot about showbiz from his onscreen mom played by Debbi Morgan.

"I got a chance to work along alongside one of the greatest actors I’ve ever seen lace up her boots—Debbi Morgan," he added. "She is just as stunning in person as you would imagine, and she taught me everything I needed to know to get started as an artist."

Among those many lessons, Ballard included "how to prepare you for the level of intensity, the level of dedication required to make these fictional circumstances connect with the audience and I would be in scenes with her sometimes and I would just be like, mouth open, because her range of emotion and a command and access to it would blow me away and I just I fashioned myself to try to come somewhere within the same area code of that level of professionalism and talent."
