Jodie Turner-Smith is opening up about her divorce from Joshua Jackson.
The 39-year-old Tron: Ares actress and the 48-year-old Dawson’s Creek actor started dating in October 2018 and married in late 2019. After four years of marriage, Jodie filed for divorce in October 2023 and their divorced was finalized in May 2025. They share daughter Juno, who was born in April 2020.
While appearing on the Monday (June 29) episode of Hoda Kotb’s Joy 101 podcast, Jodie shared how she talked to their now-6-year-old daughter about the divorce.
“I’m a child of divorce, myself, and so is my ex-husband,” Jodie explained. “It’s always been important to think about what is the language around which we are going to talk about this with our daughter because this is her new reality.”
“We’re learning as well and not always getting it totally right, but the idea is always two homes filled with love,” she continued. “I’m like, ‘You got two houses, girl.’”
Jodie went on to say that the most “difficult” part of her split from Joshua is “navigating the conversation” with her daughter.
“You got to walk this line between, obviously, being age appropriate and child-centered in the way that you talk about it,” Jodie shared. “But also keeping it real, so that she has an understanding of what this means.”
She also said that books have become her “favorite tool” for these conversations.
“I read her so many books about divorce, about what that means. About what that new world is, about what is supposed to be happening, what’s not supposed to be happening,” the Queen & Slim actress shared. “Children’s books have been helpful as well.”
