Don’t tap the gas. Tyler, The Creator wants fans to pump the brakes when it comes to his next album. Earlier this week, an Instagram account titled Medicine Boxx fueled speculation about Tyler possibly making a jazz album for his next era, but the Grammy-winning rapper is shutting down any of that momentum.
“Not at all lol and do not get stuck on this idea please,” he responded in an IG comment.
Essentially, this fan noticed Tyler changed his IG bio to “satchmo, sag harbor,” which he believed was a signal that Tyler was entering a jazz era since Satchmo is jazz legend Louis Armstrong’s nickname and Sag Harbor (a village on Long Island, N.Y.) was a sanctuary for creatives and Black families in the mid-20th century.
Medicine Boxx has updated its caption explaining that Tyler shut down the theory. “Tyler confirmed this isn’t the new direction,” the account wrote. “But if you’re a fan, the context is still worth knowing.”
Tyler released CHROMAKOPIA in October 2024, then returned less than a year later with Don’t Tap the Glass last July, both of which topped the Billboard 200. He embarked on a massive CHROMAKOPIA World Tour last year and teased that it could be his last global trek for a while.
Outside of music, the California native has been keeping busy with other endeavors, such as acting. Tyler made his feature film debut in A24’s Marty Supreme alongside Timothée Chalamet in December.
Tyler’s Camp Flog Gnaw is also returning for a 12th installment on Nov. 14 and No. 15 at Dodger Stadium. Advance tickets went on sale for the carnival last week, but a lineup announcement is expected to come at a later date. 2025′s Camp Flog Gnaw saw performances from Tyler, Kali Uchis, Doechii, A$AP Rocky, Childish Gambino and 2 Chainz.
