EXCLUSIVE: Evie Templeton (Wednesday) is set to lead the ’60s-set road-trip drama I’ll Go If You Go alongside Caylee Cowan (Casey Affleck’s upcoming Company) and Larsen Thompson (Tarot).
The film, marking the feature debut of writer-director Abby Tozer, begins production in Shreveport, Louisiana this fall.
Set in 1967 West Texas, I’ll Go If You Go follows Ellie Mansfield (Templeton), a young woman at the Rebekah School for Girls, a Baptist reform school. Struggling with grief and a fractured sense of reality, Ellie forms an unlikely bond with her charismatic roommate, Brenna Darby (Cowan). When Brenna proposes that they steal a 1966 Mustang and escape, Ellie reluctantly joins her on a journey across Texas to see the ocean for the first time. Along the way, Ellie is also forced to reconcile with her estranged older sister, Katie Mansfield (Thompson).
Supporting cast includes Maria Breese (Shameless), Rolf Saxon (Mission: Impossible franchise), and Alice Hewkin (The Brothers Sun).
A UC Berkeley neuroscience graduate, drawing on a childhood shaped by frequent moves, Tozer said: “This script is so personal to me, and I wouldn’t trust any duo more than Caylee and Evie to powerfully breathe it into existence. Caylee believed in this project from the very beginning and has been instrumental in helping bring it to life as a powerhouse actor and producer. And the second I met Evie, I knew we had something special.”
Tozer and Cowan are producing alongside Maria Breese, Brehan Fitzgerald, Deron Tracy and Alexander Jeffer, with Max Fisher serving as executive producer.
Best known for her breakout performance as Agnes DeMille in Netflix’s Wednesday, Templeton can next be seen in Bleecker Street’s Victorian Psycho alongside Maika Monroe, Ruth Wilson and Jason Isaacs. The horror thriller premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and releases later this year. She is repped by Luber Roklin Entertainment and Independent Talent Group.
Cowan will next appear in the gothic mystery Company, directed by Casey Affleck, which is set to compete at the 83rd Venice Film Festival. She is repped by LBI Entertainment.
Tozer is repped by Brehan Fitzgerald at Brio Entertainment; Thompson by Luber Roklin and CESD Talent Agency; Breese by Principal Entertainment LA; Saxon by Thirdhill Entertainment; and Hewkin by Independent Talent Group and Alan Siegel Entertainment.
