Kristin Cavallari wants to put some cabin pressure on her kids' financial future.
Indeed, the Very Cavallari star shared that in an effort to teach her and ex Jay Cutlerâs kids Camden Jack, 13, Jaxon, 12, and Saylor, 10, about the value of money, she has them fly in coach while she travels in first class.
âMy kids donât just get whatever they want,â Cavallari said on the July 7 episode of the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast. âAnd if they want something, they have to work for it.â
After all, sheâs âhyper-awareâ that her children are âgrowing up in a very fortunate situation,â which is why she seizes any opportunity to teach them a financial lesson.
âSomething as small as they fly coach, Iâm flying first class,â the 39-year-old continued. âThat was important to me when they became old enough that they could. Itâs not [difficult to do] when theyâre older. Iâm like, âBye guys, have fun back there.ââÂ
She added, âItâs good for them. And I think itâs the little things like that as a parent that make, ultimately, I think, a big difference in the long run.â
Plus, the Laguna Beach alum is encouraging her kids to learn entrepreneurship because, as she put it, âThis is my money. This is not your money.âÂ
âA good example is last summer, both of my boys created their own little businesses,â she shared. âOne of my boys was washing peopleâs windows. And the other one was washing peopleâs garbage cans. Because if they want something, they got to go work for it. And they got to make it happen.â
In the end, though, the Uncommon James founderâs mindset is founded on putting her kids first. So, she has made sure to build her life and business around prioritizing her little ones.
âThere are so many ways to come into being a business woman and a mother and there is no one size fits all,â she said, noting, âWhat works for me is very different from what will work for you.â
