EXCLUSIVE: Dylan Douglas, son of of Hollywood legends Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones, has booked his first feature role and it’s a starring part.

Based on real events, the film will chart how a group of Jewish mobsters tried to assassinate Hitler in 1933.

Douglas will star with Harry Goodwins (The Gentlemen), Greg Finley (The Secret Life Of The American Teenager), David Arquette (Scream), Graham Sibley (Lincoln), and Lorenzo Antonucci (Ice Cream Man) in the action-thriller called Killing Hitler.

Filming got underway today in Budapest, Hungary, on the movie, which heralds from director Danny A. Abeckaser (The Perfect Gamble) who also stars.

The logline reads: “As a tyrant ascends, two notorious American gangsters plan the impossible: an attempt to kill Adolf Hitler in 1933 Berlin. The movie shows how the FBI prevented these notable Jewish American gangsters from altering the course of history in 1933.”The story will be told through the eyes of lead character ‘Ben’, whose early years are portrayed by Douglas and whose later years are portrayed by Arquette.

Abeckaser will portray legendary mobster Meyer Lansky, Finley will play Bugsy Siegel, Goodwins will portray a German revolutionary and Antonucci will play Lucky Luciano.

Twenty-five year-old Douglas, who has previously appeared in two shorts, is the grandson of the legendary Kirk Douglas, and the son of Oscar winners Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Actress sister Carys Douglas is currently in post-production on her first feature, The Problem With Poets.

Killing Hitler is based on an article by Professor Robert Rockaway called The Jewish Plot to Kill Hitler which Abeckaser bought the rights to. The Tel Aviv University professor also wrote the the novel But He Was Good To His Mother: The Lives and Crimes of Jewish Gangsters.

Producers are Sagi Wolf and Danny A. Abeckaser and his 2B Films (The Iceman). Supporting cast includes Eli Massillon, Stephen Huszar, Jeremy Luke, Gary Pestone, Alexis Ephron, Sharon Azrieli, and Aki Avni.

Executive producers are Rich Barner, Jeff Hoffman, Ilan Portal, Perry Hiiman, Alexis Ephron, Daniel Weinberg, Yaki Reisner, Don Worley, and Lorenzo Antonucci. Associate producer is Alexandra Lasky.Director Abeckaser, who has collaborated with Arquette on five movies before, said: “This is a movie I have had my sights on making for years. I read an article that had me hooked on the story and from that point I bought the rights. I was determined to direct this movie and am thrilled to be able to finally put it on film. We have a truly incredible stellar ensemble cast and I am also excited to introduce Dylan Douglas in his first starring role. As soon as he auditioned I knew he had to play Ben.”
