Kate Middleton and Prince William are speaking out in response to the deadly flash flood along the Nepal-China border, which has left hundreds dead and thousands still missing.
What happened in Nepal
A flash flood was triggered on Wednesday (August 26) after a block of ice and rock broke off a glacier, sending a wall of water, mud and debris through river valleys along the Nepal-China border. The flood destroyed several villages and washed away 25 miles of roads and over a dozen bridges.
Reuters reported on Friday morning, August 28, that the death toll is nearing 600 people with almost 2,500 still missing. More than 90,000 people are estimated to have been affected by the disaster.

The scale of the devastation along the Nepal-China border is shocking. We are thinking of everyone caught up in this terrible disaster.
Our thoughts are especially with the families facing an unbearable wait for news and with the communities confronting such immense loss.
We are incredibly grateful to all those working in such dangerous conditions to rescue people and support those affected.
