A trio of new tracks from the expanded Helldivers 2 soundtrack have been made available to stream.
Helldivers 2 launched in 2024 for PlayStation 5 and PC with an Xbox Series X/S version coming the following year. The first-person sci-fi shooter has sold more than 20 million copies and still receives regular updates from developers Arrowhead Game Studios.
As part of the evolution of the game, original composer Wilbert Roget II wrote a trio of new songs for the game – and they’re now available to stream. Check out ‘Hive World’, ‘Rise Of The Cyborgs’ and ‘The Illuminate Void’ below:
“Two and a half years ago we released a game that changed my life and I couldn’t be more grateful to the players, the content creators, and of course the developers at Arrowhead and Sony PlayStation for making Helldivers 2 into the phenomenon it’s become,” said Roget II in a statement. “Over the past year I’ve had the pleasure of returning to the world of Super Earth, writing new music for each enemy faction to underscore the next chapter of the Second Galactic War. Deepest thanks once again to the Nashville Scoring Orchestra and Ocean Way Studios, as well as all of our soloists, engineers, editors, supervisors and music team for once again bringing my score to life!”
A Helldivers movie was confirmed at the start of last year and back in February, it was announced that Jason Momoa would star in an unconfirmed role.
According to PlayStation Productions Head Asad Qizilbash, the film will take heavy inspiration from Helldivers 2 which is set in the 22nd century after a fascist Super Earth emerged victorious from the First Galactic War. The hit game follows a group of soldiers trying to contain a breakout of genetically-engineered bugs known as Terminds from galactic farms while defending Super Earth from revenge-driven attacks by Automatons and the mysterious alien race known as The Illuminate. The game was heavily inspired by 1997’s sci-fi satire Starship Troopers, which was based on Robert A. Heinlein’s 1959 novel of the same name.
In other news, the next chapter in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series has been given a release window – and it’s sooner than many people were expecting.
