“Slow Horses” fans are in for a nail-biting ride in Season 6, with someone hunting down members of the Slough House crew – and the return of some familiar faces.
A new trailer for the upcoming season, which launches Sept. 16 on Apple TV, sees Jackson Lamb’s band of merry misfits go underground as they try to avoid getting the chop – literally. Each episode will drop weekly until Oct. 21.
The trailer opens with Lamb – played by Gary Oldman – standing in what seems to be Diana Taverner’s (Kristin Scott Thomas) garden, where he asks her: “Do you know anything about why my Slow Horses keep turning up dead?”
The logline for the sixth instalment, which is directed by Adam Randall, reads: “Season 6 sees the Slow Horses on the run as Diana Taverner embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge.”
In another scene, Katherine Standish (played by Saskia Reeves) notes: “Anyone who’s ever worked at Slough House is being targeted” before it cuts to Lamb saying: “It’s a blood bath.”
As the gang try to track down their former colleagues to warn them of the danger, viewers are treated to glimpses of past cast members including Rosalind Eleazar, who plays Louisa, Joanna Scanlan, who appeared as the insufferable Moira and the highly-anticipated return of Olivia Cooke as Sid, who hasn’t been seen since Season 1 back in 2022.
“Oh come on we’re spies, we’ve all faked our own death at one time or another,” Lamb tells Standish just before the scene cuts to Cooke coming face to face with River Cartwright (Jack Lowden).
The show also stars Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Samuel West, Ruth Bradley, Jonathan Pryce and Hugo Weaving. Joining the cast this season is BAFTA winner Lenny Rush.
“Slow Horses” is based on Mick Herron’s hit novels, with Season 6 adapted for television by co-executive producer Gaby Chiappe. It is produced by See-Saw Films.
Season 5 is up for nine Emmys including drama series.
