Dolly Parton is making a rare public appearance!
The 80-year-old country music icon made a surprise appearance at the grand opening of her new Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop on Wednesday (June 24) Cornersville, Tenn.
“Well, the doors are open and I could not be prouder. Whether you are hauling loads, hauling the family, or just passing through, we built this place for you,” Dolly said during the ribbon cutting ceremony, per Rolling Stone.
“Good food, real rest, a little music, and people who are genuinely glad you stopped in,” she continued. “That’s what the road has always deserved, and that is what you will find here. Welcome home.”
Dolly also playfully took a jab at her competitor Buc-ee’s.
“I’m sure some of you want to know why I wanted a truck stop,” she teased. “Well, I couldn’t leave it to beavers.”
Dolly was inspired to open the new travel center following her time on the road as she toured the country over her decades-long career.
If you didn’t know, the Grammy winner has scaled back appearances in recent months. In September 2025, she announced that her Las Vegas residency would be postponed after learning she needed to undergo multiple medical procedures.
In October, she shared a video to address some of the concerns about her health. Then, a couple of months later, Dolly‘s goddaughter Miley Cyrus shared an encouraging update about the “9 to 5” singer.
