Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning are back on set together!
The frequent co-stars have begun production on their new Paramount+ legal thriller series Discretion, adapted from a short story by Chandler Baker, who is also writing the TV show.
This is the fourth project together for Nicole and Elle, who are both Emmy-nominated for their work as producers on the new Apple TV series Margo’s Got Money Troubles. Elle also earned a nomination for her performance in the series. They previously worked together in the indie movies The Beguiled and How to Talk to Girls at Parties.
What is Discretion about?
Discretion is a legal thriller about a summer associate Lenny (Fanning) at a prestigious Dallas law firm who uncovers a web of NDAs masking a dark truth. When she realizes she signed the same agreement, her discoveries put her in the crosshairs of the firm’s most powerful female partner Sharon (Kidman)—upending their mentor-protégé dynamic and raising the question: who gets to keep secrets, and at what cost.
Josh Lucas is also starring in the eight-episode series, which will launch globally on Paramount+ in 2027. Two more casting announcements were just made!
Stephan James joins as Logan
Stephan James will play Logan, a sharp corporate associate who becomes a mentor to Lenny.
He is best known for his work in the movie If Beale Street Could Talk and will soon be seen in I Play Rocky. He received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the TV show Homecoming and received an Emmy nomination for his work in the short form series #FreeRayshawn.
Colton Ryan joins as Boone
Colton Ryan will play Boone, Lenny’s ex-boyfriend, a recovering addict from an affluent Dallas family, now nine months sober living at a halfway house while quietly trying to rebuild his life.
Colton is best known for starring opposite Elle in Hulu’s The Girl from Plainville and for playing Connor Murphy in the movie adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen. He was Tony-nominated for his performance in the Broadway musical New York, New York.
