Role Model‘s new album is here.
The 29-year-old singer-songwriter (born Tucker Pillsbury) released his new record, Chuck Timely & the Hourglass, on Friday (August 7).
Among all the new songs, “Stain” is the most popular on Genius right now, as fans search up the lyrics and discover the meaning behind the track, produced by Mason Stoops, Taylor Mackall and Kane Ritchotte.
“It’s a stain that I’ll never get out / It’s a stain, the kind they warn you about / It’s so vain to be calling the house / It’s a stain that I can’t get out, oh, no,” he sings on the chorus of the track.
The song appears to chronicle an ex unexpectedly reaching back out after another relationship falls apart, as he makes it clear he has no interest in being anyone’s “backup plan.”
“I’m sorry that it didn’t work out with your man / But there’s nothing fun in feeling like a backup plan / Just write a few songs, put a pen in your hand / That worked for me, babe, hey,” he declares.
“I’m very curious will take that one,” he told Zane Lowe in a recent interview, who inquired about whether or not the song will make it to live shows.
At first, Role Model sounded hesitant about including it before saying: “I will play it live. Will it be on the setlist every night? No, I’ll be honest with you…I have enough songs that I love to play.”
Role Model and Dakota Johnson sparked dating rumors for a few months, and he seemingly confirmed in an interview that they are in a relationship.
