Scott Eastwood is looking back at an unpleasant experience on set with a past co-star.
While appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience, the 40-year-old Regretting You actor spoke candidly about a former co-star, who he described as entitled, abruptly exiting a project during mid-production.
“Some of the accountability in this industry is just unbelievable,” Scott said. “I just worked with somebody and, without saying any names, people get too famous for too long and think the world owes them something.”
While alluded to the actor struggling to “do the right thing” in the situation, Scott made it very clear, “It’s black and white. Do the right thing. Don’t be a piece of s??t. You you can’t do that. That’s unacceptable behavior.”
Scott went on to share more details about the situation. He said that right after pre-production on the movie started, one co-star wasn’t interested in sticking with the project. Scott said that if it was him leaving the project early, the right thing to do would be to pay back the investor.
“They decided after we’d already spent a bunch of money that they just didn’t want to work with this other person and didn’t want to do the job,” he said. “I was like, ‘Okay, then you need to pay that money back to the person who invested in you.’ They were like, ‘I’m not gonna do that.'”
Instead, Scott said that the actor, whom he didn’t identify, “just left.”
“It was their their directorial, their story, their thing. And it was just like, bro, you that you took money from somebody,” said the Suicide Squad actor.
“I’ve seen some behavior in this business that is shocking. That would not go in other industries, but for some reason because because they’re stars, right?” he added, implying that there are some people in the entertainment industry who are actors just became they want to be famous.
Also in the interview, Scott explained why he followed in his famous father Clint Eastwood‘s footsteps and joined the film industry.
“I love telling stories and when we’re doing a creative endeavor and you move people, whether you’ll make them laugh, make them cry, whatever,” he said. “But the whole other side of that is like just really ugly.”
Scott also emphasized that Clint, 96, wasn’t focused on the fame side of Hollywood, but was in the business for the storytelling and work ethic.
“He’s just a put-your-boots-on, go-to-work man,” he said. “It happens to be an a creative endeavor, which is really cool and gets to use that, you know, use that muscle.”
“My dad was never like that. He was like, it’s a job,” Scott added. “Like go to work, do the best you can, put in the reps, make sure you know your s–t and you come prepared, and you have something interesting, but leave it at the door.”
If you didn’t see, Scott shared an update on how his dad is doing following the passing of his longtime girlfriend.
