EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios has landed worldwide rights to The Kellys, a new action flick to star Arnold Schwarzenegger and Liam Hemsworth, which will be made available for streaming on Prime Video.

Hailing from director Brad Peyton and Thunder Road Films, the film follows Jack Kelly, a disgraced NYC cop whose wife, Molly, is taken hostage by terrorists inside an old armory building. Subsequently, he’ll have to join forces with the people he fears most to save her: His family.

Known for Netflix’s chart-topper Atlas starring Jennifer Lopez, plus Dwayne Johnson starrers like Rampage and San Andreas, Peyton teamed with Tze Chun (Gotham, Once Upon a Time) to write the script. Production is currently underway.

Schwarzenegger reunites here with Amazon MGM after taking on the role of Santa in their forthcoming Christmas film The Man with the Bag, directed by Adam Shankman. Among the action hero and former California Governor’s other upcoming projects is a new King Conan movie in development at 20th from the Mission: Impossible franchise’s Christopher McQuarrie. He is repped by UTA and Patrick Knapp of GGSSC.

Previously working with Schwarzenegger on 2012’s The Expendables 2, Hemsworth has most recently been seen starring in Netflix’s The Witcher — taking over Henry Cavill’s starring role of Geralt of Rivia — plus Susannah Grant’s romantic drama Lonely Planet for the same streamer. He is repped by Brandon Liebman of Range Media Partners and David Krtinzman of Yorn, Levine, Barnes.

The director of films that have grossed well over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, Peyton is repped by CAA, The Characters Talent Agency, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Upcoming for Thunder Road is Paramount’s release of the company’s crime thriller By Any Means, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Mark Wahlberg, on September 4.
