A Britney Spears biopic is in the works right now and we’re looking into the current odds for the casting of the lead role.
We already know that Jon M. Chu is directing the movie with New Girl and Furious creator Liz Meriwether writing the script.
Liz just made her first comments about being attached to the project. She told Variety, “It’s really interesting because I haven’t written a movie in a long time, so that’s been part of the process is just trying to think in a two-hour story as opposed to like an eight-hour story, which is what I’ve been used to doing.”
Liz also told Vanity Fair, “I’m really at the beginning of the process of thinking about it. But I do feel like what she experienced was pretty unique for the moment that it was happening, almost a perfect storm of attention and new forms of media.”
The movie is an adaptation of Britney‘s best-selling memoir “The Woman in Me.” Universal Pictures has the rights to the project with Wicked producer Marc Platt developing the project.
