The limited-edition vinyl edition of ‘Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album’ is being resold for almost 3x the original price.

Yesterday (September 17) Rockstar Games and Atlantic Records announced they were teaming up for ‘Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album’, a 34-track collection of exclusive songs from some of the biggest artists in the world. The full line-up is still to be announced but we know Travis Scott, Future, Fred Again.., Morgan Wallen, Pink Pantheress and Keith Richards are just some of the artists involved. Both Grand Theft Auto 6 and ‘The Album’ launch November 19. 

As well as hitting streaming services, ‘Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album’ will be getting a number of CD and vinyl editions. So far, 11 different vinyl variants have been confirmed alongside two types of CD. 

Pre-orders went live yesterday and the limited-edition vinyl, which comes with two transparent magenta discs filled with blue liquid and exclusive new artwork that echoes the iconic style of Grand Theft Auto 6, sold out in less than an hour.

Now scalpers are flipping the vinyl on resale sites with a hefty markup. The limited-edition vinyl originally cost £108.99 but there are more than a dozen listings on eBay, ranging from £220 to £490. Several of the limited-edition copies of ‘Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album’ have already sold on eBay for between £215 and £315. It’s happening in other countries as well.

It comes after Rockstar Games confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 wouldn’t be getting a proper physical release, and would be sold as a download-code-in-a-box instead. 

Speaking about ‘Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album’ on social media, Atlantic Records boss Kevin Weaver said: “The passion, creativity, commitment and relentless work that has gone into bringing this to life has been incredible. To have the opportunity to create this album as part of GTA 6, a game and cultural moment of this magnitude, is almost impossible to put into words. The scale, ambition and creativity behind this game are unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, and the caliber of the artists and music we’ve brought together for this album is something I could not be more excited for the world to hear.”

Twitch boss Dan Clancy has also suggested that Grand Theft Auto 6 Online will launch next year. “We spent a lot of time helping them think about how they can engage our creators,” Clancy said in a recent interview. “You are going to see this big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.
