EXCLUSIVE: Coming off the breakout success of Peacock’s The Five Star Weekend, Sue Naegle and Ali Krug have signed an overall deal with 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios. The duo are moving their Dinner Party Productions from NBCUniversal where they were under an overall deal at UCP (now Universal Global Television.)

Under the multi-year pact with 20th Television, Naegle and Krug will develop and produce series targeting platforms and brands across Disney Entertainment’s global portfolio.

We can’t wait to build on our shared vision and see what we can create together.”

According to sources, Disney pursued Naegle and offered a deal that she and Krug could not say no to. Naegle and Burke have known each other for 30 years, Naegle executive produced 20th TV’s 2021 Fox series The Big Leap, and she and Krug worked with Erwich on Hulu’s limited series Pam & Tommy, starring Sebastian Stan, Seth Rogen and Lily James, and Monsterland, which the duo executive produced.

This is the second high profile talent 20th Television has recruited from another studio, following the recent overall deal with Quinta Brunson.

Under the Universal deal, Dinner Party developed and produced Peacock’s series The Five Star Weekend starring Jennifer Garner, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, Gemma Chan, and D’Arcy Carden, which became the platform’s most watched scripted original of all time and quickly earned a second-season renewal with Naegle and Krug set to return as executive producers. Additionally, Naegle has executive produced Peacock/UTG thriller drama The Day of the Jackal, which is returning for a second season.

The duo are leaving on good terms, and Naegle has maintained a close relationship with UTG President Beatrice Springborn. Dinner Party Productions has other series in development at the studio, including adaptations of the books Listen For the Lie and All the Colors Of the Dark.

Prior to launching Dinner Party Prods., Naegle served as Chief Content Officer at Annapurna Pictures, overseeing TV, Film, and Theatre, with Krug as her Co-Head of Television. The two executive produced Hulu’s Pam & Tommy and Monsterland as well as HBO Max’s The Staircase, starring Colin Firth and Toni Collette; Prime Video’s Dead Ringers, starring Rachel Weisz; Apple TV’s The Changeling, starring LaKeith Stanfield; and Netflix’s Soundtrack. Naegle also executive produced Showtime’s I Love That For You, created by and starring Vanessa Bayer.

Naegle began her career at UTA, rising to partner and co-head of the TV Lit Department before being appointed President of HBO Entertainment in 2008, where she shepherded such series as Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, Treme, Eastbound & Down, Enlightened, Veep, and Girls. She stepped down in 2013 and launched her production banner Naegle Ink with a first-look deal at HBO before joining Annapurna Pictures.

Dinner Party Production has elevated Aquinnah Fox to director of development, reporting to Naegle and Krug. The company is repped by UTA.
