Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are ready for the first audiences to see their new movie Bunker.
The real-life couple posed for photos together while arriving for the 2026 Venice Film Festival on Monday (September 7) in Venice, Italy.
The couple will be walking the red carpet for the premiere of Bunker on Tuesday.
What is Bunker about?
The Venice Film Festival released the below synopsis for the upcoming film, written and directed by Florian Zeller.
When an architect accepts a morally ambiguous project – building a survivalist bunker for a tech billionaire – his wife begins to question their marriage after seventeen years together.
Bunker is a dramatic thriller that examines the emotional and moral challenges faced by a couple as the anxieties of an increasingly uncertain world begin to reshape their marriage, exploring the fears, doubts and ethical dilemmas that define our time.
Florian has confirmed he wrote the movie specifically for Penelope and Javier to star in it.
I wrote Bunker for Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem, who were both the starting point and inspiration for this project — not only because they are among the most gifted actors working today, but also because they are an iconic couple. I wanted to explore love, fidelity and forgiveness while placing the audience in a position of deliberate ambiguity. What exactly are we being invited to witness? A glimpse of reality? Fiction? Or a meta-examination of the truth?
