Jessica Chastain is heading to Nashville in the first official trailer for her new Netflix movie Heartland!
The Oscar-winning actress stars a retired country music superstar Misty Jones in the upcoming mystery thriller, which will begin streaming on November 13.
Netflix debuted the official trailer on Tuesday (October 6), along with the movie’s key art and its title song.
In the movie, Misty has spent years away from Nashville and the spotlight. She returns after her niece Charlie Heart, an up-and-coming country singer played by Carter Faith, goes missing.
Her search takes her into a darker side of Nashville, where she begins questioning the people around Charlie and digging into secrets from her own past.
Jessica Chastain Sings With Jennifer Nettles on the Heartland Title Track
Jessica also performs her own music in the movie.
She teamed up with Jennifer Nettles, who plays fellow country singer Winnie Jo Lean, to record the title track “Heartland.” The song was released on Tuesday along with the trailer.
“Country music is about telling a story,” Jessica said while discussing the project. “It’s about someone leaving you, someone dying, they’re drinking too much, wanting someone that you shouldn’t want… Apparently I just really like women with big hair and complicated lives.”
The full Heartland soundtrack will arrive on November 13 and features original performances from Jessica, Jennifer, Ross Lynch and Carter, along with music from Margo Price, Carly Pearce, Eddy Dunlap, Channing Wilson and Dave “Fergie” Ferguson.
Who Else Stars in Heartland?
Garrett Hedlund stars as Roy Combs, Charlie’s manager, while Ross plays her boyfriend Jace.
The cast also includes Paul Sparks, John Hawkes, Hill Harper, Norbert Leo Butz, Wynn Everett, Isabelle Kusman and David Rysdahl. The movie was written and directed by Shana Feste, who previously wrote and directed the 2010 country music drama Country Strong.
Heartland premieres November 13 on Netflix.
