Author Colleen Hoover‘s 2018 romantic thriller, “Verity,” is back on the bestsellers chart as a motion picture adaptation of the novel hits theaters nationwide.

The hardcover version of “Verity” is currently number two on Amazon’s bestselling books chart, just behind the new Rebecca Yarros release, “Threshing Day,” which is the fourth book in the author’s “Empyrean” series. “Verity” is also number two on the Audible audiobook charts (as of this writing), back near the top after more than 100 weeks on the list.

“Verity” was an instant hit with readers when it was first released, and quickly became a #1 New York Times Bestseller and BookTok favorite.

Amazon currently has the book on sale for 30% off, with a “collector’s edition” that includes an exclusive new chapter from Hoover, as well as a new author’s letter.

From publishers Grand Central Publishing, the 368-page book follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh, who takes a job working for Jeremy Crawford, the husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, who is presumed to be comatose after a car accident. Ashleigh is asked to help finish Verity’s book series, and soon begins pouring over manuscripts to piece the books together. But as the publisher notes state, “What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read―page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of the night her family was forever altered.”

“Verity” has now been adapted into a movie starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett. The film was first announced last March and hits theaters Oct. 2.

“Verity” was self-published by Hoover in 2018 before being acquired by Grand Central Publishing in 2021. The film adaptation comes on the heels of “It Ends With Us,” the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni-starring film which was also based on a Hoover book.
