Four-time Emmy nominee Liz Meriwether is set to pen the screenplay based on Britney Spears memoir The Woman in Me which Wicked producer Marc Platt is producing and director Jon M. Chu is helming at Universal. The studio took rights to the novel with Platt and Chu back in August 2024.
Chu previously was penning a draft which tells the story of the rise, and, and rise again of the McComb, Mississippi native who would become a multi-platinum selling pop artist behind such hits as “…Baby One More Time,” “Toxic” and “Ooops…I Did It Again!”

Meriwether created Fox hit series New Girl starring Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simon.
