The Fate Of The Furious star Scott Eastwood has talked about a famous unnamed co-star who walked away from a project without returning the money they were paid.
The actor appeared on The Joe Rogen Podcast on June 27, where the pair discussed the modern film industry and the egos found within it. He brought up the example of a production he was working on where his famous co-star, who was also serving as director, walked away due to not wanting to work with someone on set.
“Some of the accountability in this industry is just unbelievable,” Eastwood said. “I just worked with somebody and, without saying any names, people get too famous for too long and think the world owes them something.” He recalled that the project had just started pre-production when the person “decided after we’d already spent a bunch of money that they just didn’t want to work with this other person and didn’t want to do the job.”
In response, the actor told the unnamed collaborator: “OK, then you need to pay that money back to the person who invested in you.’ They were like, ‘I’m not gonna do that.’” It’s not clear who the person is, or what production he was alluding to.
“It’s black and white. Do the right thing,” Eastwood said about the situation. “Don’t be a piece of shit. You can’t do that. That’s unacceptable behaviour.” He continued that while “it was their directorial [debut], their story, their thing,” he didn’t like that they “took money from somebody.” He concluded: “That would not go in other industries, but for some reason because they’re stars, right?”
While this story appears to be a separate project, Eastwood was part of another franchise with a notorious feud between stars. The Fast And Furious franchise made headlines due to a clash between the series’ lead, Vin Diesel, and co-star Dwayne Johnson. The former wrestler joined the cast from the fifth to the eighth film, before being absent for the ninth amid disagreements with Diesel (he would star in his own spin-off, Hobbs And Shaw, in 2019).
Johnson called out Diesel, making a pointed Instagram post implying that Diesel was unprofessional and “chicken shit”. Johnson would later say that crew members thanked him for speaking out, but that the pair had since found an understanding. Diesel himself had put the feud down to his tendency to give “tough love”, while co-star John Cena described the situation as: “You have two very alpha, driven people. You get two. There can only be one.”
The last interaction between the two came at the 2025 Golden Globes, where Diesel received a frosty response from Johnson after giving him an on-stage shout out.
