Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are back together on TV!
The longtime friends and True Detective co-stars reunite for the new Apple TV comedy series Brothers, which premiered Wednesday (September 23).
Matthew and Woody play fictionalized versions of themselves in the eight-episode series, which takes inspiration from their real-life friendship and the surprising possibility that they could actually be related.
So, how can you watch Brothers, when will each episode be released and are Matthew and Woody really brothers?

Brothers is streaming exclusively on Apple TV.
The first two episodes debuted Wednesday (September 23), and the remaining six episodes will be released one at a time every Wednesday through the season finale on November 4.

The series follows Matthew and Woody as fictionalized versions of themselves whose longtime friendship is thrown into chaos after they learn that they might actually be brothers.
After Woody and his family arrive at Matthew‘s Texas ranch, Matthew‘s mother, Ma Mac, played by Holland Taylor, accidentally reveals a decades-old family secret that sends Woody searching for the truth.
Natalie Martinez, Brittany Ishibashi, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton, Noah Carganilla, Highdee Kuan and Oona Yaffe also star.
Are Matthew McConaughey & Woody Harrelson Really Brothers?
Here’s where things get particularly interesting: the show’s central premise is based on a question the actors have actually been asking themselves for years.
Back in 2023, Matthew revealed that he and Woody could potentially be half-brothers after his mom Kay McConaughey revealed that she had known Woody‘s father, Charles Harrelson.
Matthew later explained how his mom started the speculation, recalling that she told Woody, “I knew … your father.”
He explained that it was the pause/ellipsis he found “troubling, or interesting.”
The actors subsequently did some digging and determined that Charles had been on furlough around the same period that Matthew‘s parents were going through their second divorce. Matthew has also said there could be records placing his mom and Charles were in the same part of West Texas around that time.
Despite all of the speculation, there’s still no confirmation that Matthew and Woody are actually half-brothers.
They have not publicly revealed DNA test results confirming a biological relationship.
In a new interview ahead of the show’s premiere, the actors addressed whether they would finally take a DNA test. Matthew indicated that he’s still hesitant to find out for certain, while Woody said he already believes they’re brothers.
“He’s more my brother than my brothers,” Woody said. “Once [Matthew’s mom Mary Kathleen “Kay” McConaughey] mentioned that, and that whole ball started rolling, it’s nice to think that he actually is my brother. It makes sense.”
So, for now, the real-life mystery remains unsolved.
