EXCLUSIVE: An NCIS universe fan favorite actor is rejoining the franchise, this time behind the scenes. NCIS: Los Angeles alum Eric Christian Olsen will serve as an executive producer on the upcoming third season of CBS’ NCIS: Origins under his banner Cloud Nine Productions.
Olsen has joined the prequel series’ original executive producers David J. North, who serves as showrunner next season, Mark Harmon an Sean Harmon as well as Michele Greco who has been promoted from co-executive producer.
NCIS: Origins follows a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Austin Stowell) in the early ‘90s, years prior to the events of NCIS, and is narrated by Mark Harmon. The cast also includes Kyle Schmid, Mariel Molino, Tyla Abercrumbie, Diany Rodriguez and Caleb Foote.
Season 3 of NCIS: Origins, which consists of 10 episodes, will air Tuesdays at 10 PM this fall on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
Olsen has been at CBS Studios, which is behind the NCIS franchise, since he was cast in NCIS: Los Angeles 17 years ago. He portrayed Detective Marty Deeks for the series’ entire 14-season run on CBS.
Since 2018, Olsen has been under a first-look deal at the studio, developing projects under his banner Cloud Nine Productions. He executive produces CBS Studios’ CBS legal drama Matlock, which is headed to its third season. Olsen’s executive producer credits also include the Hulu/Sony TV series Woke.
