Aidan Quinn is sadly not part of the Practical Magic 2 cast, despite starring in the original 1998 movie.
The 67-year-old actor played the detective in the first movie, Gary Hallett, who became the love interest of Sandra Bullock‘s character Sally Owens.
Why isn’t Aidan Quinn in Practical Magic 2?
While chatting with SPIN 1038 back in February 2026, Aidan revealed that he hadn’t been asked to return to the film or he would have returned.
“Oh, yes, of course I would,” he said, regarding whether or not he would have come back after doing the successful 1998 film.

The interviewer joked that they should reach out to Nicole Kidman, but Aidan noted that it’s “already been done.”
At the time, the film had already been done and now it is about to be released in theaters on Friday, September 10.
“Oh, yeah, lovely, lovely,” Aidan replied when asked about his experience making the first one. “They were both great to work with. Most of my stuff was with Sandy, but they were both phenomenal to work with. Yeah, we had a good time.”
