Kim Kardashian and Ye (formerly Kanye West) might not see eye to eye on certain aspects of co-parenting their four children, but they’re on the same page when it comes to North West’s budding music career.

Kardashian gave a peek inside her family life in an interview with The Sunday Times published on Oct. 4. The reality TV mogul said that she and West, who split in early 2021, try to ensure they’re “aligned” on 13-year-old North’s career aspirations.
“That is something that her dad and I have better communication about,” Kardashian stated. “We make sure we’re aligned and that she’s in projects that we both approve.”
Kim K, who shares North, 10-year-old Saint, 8-year-old Chiago and 7-year-old Psalm with Ye, opened up about how the former couple’s eldest daughter is the most ambitious when it comes to creative endeavors.
“North loves it a little bit more than the rest,” she added. “I hold her back. All she wants to do is forward-facing projects. [I’m trying to] savor those moments and not doing everything that comes her way, so we can really make sure that we manage it the right way.”
North West, who was named to Billboard‘s 2026 class of 21 Under 21, released her debut EP N0rth4evr in May. She became one of the youngest acts to land on the Billboard Hot 100, when, at 10 years old her team-up with Ye and Ty Dolla $ign, “Talking,” reached No. 30 on the chart. She also appeared on West and Ty’s 2024 Vultures album.
“People have so much to say about what I’m doing and how I’m doing it,” North told Billboard over the summer. “As a young artist, you have to figure out who you are before the world tries to tell you who to be.”
In August, North headlined her first-ever show in Chicago with both of her parents in attendance cheering her on. She was slated to head out on a joint tour with Molly Santana earlier this year, but the trek was canceled.
West and Kim Kardashian began dating in 2012 and tied the knot with a 2014 ceremony in Italy. Kardashian filed for divorce from Ye in February 2021, and the proceedings were finalized with a settlement in November 2022.
