Hannah Einbinder, Susan Sarandon Among Protesters Detained Outside UN Amid Netanyahu Arrival; Dozens Of Delegates Walk Out During Israeli PM’s Speech

Benjamin Netanyahu‘s arrival to New York City was meet with chants of “Free Palestine” outside the United Nations on Thursday.

Hannah Einbinder and Susan Sarandon were among around 100 protesters being detained on video while blocking Bibi’s entrance to the U.N. building, where he spoke with global leaders at the U.N. General Assembly. Multiple delegates walked out during his speech.

Also present at the demonstration were Cynthia Nixon, Elliot Page, Chelsea Manning, Sarah Sherman, Mary Beth Barone and Caleb Hearon, protesting Netanyahu and Israel’s ongoing strikes on Gaza since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel.

Videos of the demonstration show protesters chanting, “Free, free Palestine! Stop the genocide!”

“Netanyahu, you can’t hide! We charge you with genocide!” others chanted.

As dozens of delegates walked out of Netanyahu’s speech, he declared to applause from others, “If there are any other moral cowards who haven’t yet left this hall, please do so now. Thank you very much.”
