EXCLUSIVE: Chris Kattan has boarded the indie horror feature Trash Queen, marking his return to the genre for the first time since starring in the 1999 cult feature House on Haunted Hill.
Kattan joins a cast that includes Matty Cardarople (Stranger Things, Fallout, Reservation Dogs), Lynn Lowry (The Crazies, Shivers, Cat People), Jonathan Stoddard (The Roaring Games), Kevin Keppy (Smile), Emily Tullock, and Bonne-Vejou Dorrell.
Kattan’s role and the pic’s plot are under wraps, through the project is billed as a female horror comedy. Gabrielle Rosson directs off a screenplay co-written with Emily Tullock. Practical effects are being used for an October shoot. Joan of Art LLC and Trash Queen LLC are producing.
“I’m really excited to be stepping back into the horror genre,” Kattan tells Deadline. “House on Haunted Hill has remained such a special film for me, and horror fans have always been incredibly loyal. Trash Queen has a fun, twisted energy that immediately drew me in, and I can’t wait for audiences to see what we’ve been cooking up.”
A Groundling alum, Kattan was a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1996-2003 where he was known for the characters he created including Mr. Peepers and Mango. He went onto to star in such movies as A Night at the Roxbury, Corky Romano, and Monkeybone. Other feature credits include In Other Words, Hotel Transylvania 2, Undercover Brother and The Ridiculous 6. Kattan is repped by Arise Artists Agency and Fourth Wall Management.
