EXCLUSIVE: Marian Koltai-Levine is exiting as Chief Marketing Officer of AGBO, the studio launched by Joe and Anthony Russo. Koltai-Levine, who served four years in the role, will relaunch her independent consultancy from her East Coast base. Her first clients will be the Russos, AGBO and Donald Mustard, the video game developer and Fortnite co-creator who is now an AGBO partner.
During her full time AGBO tenure, Koltai-Levine drove marketing on a string of AGBO titles from Best Picture winner Everything Everywhere All at Once, Extraction, Extraction 2, The Gray Man, Citadel, The Electric State, and The Bluff, contributing to 16 number-one positions worldwide. Beyond the tentpoles, she oversaw a portfolio of community and mentorship initiatives that became a defining expression of AGBO’s mission. Among them are the Russo Brothers Pizza Film School podcast and its spinoff Secret Sauce; the Slamdance Fellowship, No Sleep Til Fest, Storytellers Collective, the SANDS Film Festival in St. Andrews Scotland, Lobby Theater, and the Get to Know series. Koltai also launched the AGBOVERSE, a community for superfans.
“Marian has been invaluable to our journey, first as a trusted collaborator from the outside, and then as a cornerstone of our leadership team as we built AGBO from the ground up,” said Anthony and Joe Russo. “Her fingerprints are on everything from our biggest global releases to the community-driven initiatives that reflect who we truly are as artists. We’re grateful that this isn’t goodbye—Marian will remain a close partner and trusted voice as we head into what may be our most ambitious chapter yet.”
Mustard called Koltai-Levine “a gifted storyteller and a true champion of our creative vision. Her passion for narrative has elevated everything we do across film, television, and beyond. I’m deeply grateful for her impact on our organization, and I look forward to continuing to work with Marian in this next chapter.”
Chief Creative Officer Angela Russo-Otstot worked closely with Koltai-Levine and added she “understands something not everyone does—that the most lasting measure of a company’s character isn’t what it releases, but what it builds for others. The educational platform, the global competitions and festivals, the theater partnership—these weren’t side projects. They are us. Marian championed all of it with a new passion and precision she brought to our biggest tentpoles, and in doing so, she helped define what kind of company AGBO truly is. We will miss her daily partnership dearly, but we are thrilled she’ll remain part of the AGBO family.”
Koltai-Levine was President of Film Content & Marketing at Rogers & Cowan/PMK where she repped the Russos before and after they formed AGBO and directed two Captain America films that hatched two Avengers blockbusters, and she will remain involved in the release of the next two Avengers installments which the Russos returned to Marvel to direct. Before that she founded Zipline Entertainment, which R&C/PMK acquired.
She called her time at AGBO as “one of the greatest honors of my career. Anthony and Joe started a revolution in the Marvel universe, bringing a new movement to the MCU that now continues with Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. They introduced me to Donald Mustard, whose creative vision for Fortnite changed culture and shaped games into interactive social hubs. Chris Brearton’s strategic insights and business experience have transformed AGBO’s reach and ambition. And Angela Russo-Otstot, the creative conscience of AGBO—someone who can shepherd an award-winning indie and a global commercial franchise in the same breath, while still championing the emerging voices that remind us what storytelling is for. Her creative genius has taught and inspired me daily,” Koltai-Levine said.
