To celebrate the full Mario Kart World soundtrack finally making its way to Nintendo Music, the company has shared a live performance video of the main theme – check it out below:
Nintendo Switch 2 launch title Mario Kart World introduced a sprawling open-world mode (known as ‘Free Roam’) to the long-running franchise and featured a huge soundtrack that paid homage to 40 years of Mario music.
After almost a year, the main soundtrack was added to Nintendo’s dedicated streaming service Music and regular updates have introduced remixed and reworked classics to the platform. Earlier this week, the final wave of songs from the Mario Kart World soundtrack was added to Nintendo Music, with more than 14 hours of music now available to stream.
To celebrate, Nintendo has also shared two live performance videos captured in the studio, with a full live band. Check out the main ‘Mario World Theme’ and ‘Crown City’ below:
Nintendo Music launched in 2024 as a phone app that gave Nintendo Switch Online members access to a library of 23 game soundtracks. A new game has been added almost every week since, with users also able to create custom playlists alongside extended loops of their favourite tracks. Nintendo launched a new web player for Nintendo Music in June, meaning you can listen at your desktop, on a tablet or while driving. A new My Mix feature will also generate a custom playlist based on your listening history.
Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has said the Music app is so popular, the company is considering putting on a series of orchestral concert tours but so far, nothing has been confirmed.
In other news, gaming innovator Hideo Kojima turned 63 yesterday (August 24) and has taken to social media to reflect on aging. “As I get older, the things I ‘have to do’ and the things I ‘want to do’ continue to increase. At the same time, the time I ‘have to do them’ continues to decrease.”
