Blossoms surprised fans with a pop-up gig from the back of a van – check out footage below.

Earlier this week, the Manchester indie band announced their sixth studio album, ‘Songs From The Wedding Cake’. It’s due out on October 2nd via ODD SK / Distiller Records – pre-order/pre-save here.

To celebrate, last night (June 20), they showed up outside 42nd Street Nightclub in Manchester, where they performed a brief gig from the back of a van. They opened with ‘Your Girlfriend’, before launching into their new single ‘Joke About Divorce‘, and then ‘Gary’.

They then played ‘There’s a Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls)’, before wrapping up with their 2016 hit ‘Charlemagne’.

So far, they’ve kicked off the upcoming album with lead single ‘Joke About Divorce‘, and  ‘Meet Me In Love’ – along with an album trailer featuring The Inbetweeners‘ James Buckley. With backing vocals from Declan McKenna, the ‘Meet Me In Love’ video stars Maya Jama and Callum Scott Howells.

Produced by Shawn Lee (Young Gun Silver Fox), the album will also feature a collaboration with McKenna on the track ‘Additional Driver’. On social media, the band also teased appearances from Rick Astley and Inhaler frontman Elijah Hewson.

Additionally, Blossoms have announced their biggest ever headline tour, where they’re set to play at a number of arenas across the UK in November. The Royston Club will join them as support on all dates.

Kicking off at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena on November 26, the band will make stops at London’s Ally Pally (27), moving on to a hometown show at Manchester’s Co-Op Live (28). After a show at Birmingham’ Utilita Arena (December 4), they’ll round off with a final show at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro (5).

Fan pre-sale begins at 9:30 BST on June 24, with general sale commencing at 9:30 BST on June 26. You can access pre-sale by pre-ordering the album here; purchase your general sale tickets here.

We last spoke to Blossoms in 2024, where frontman Tom Ogden opened up about collaborating with CMAT on their album ‘Gary’.

“That was definitely a breakthrough moment,” Ogden told us. “I heard her album while I was record shopping in Brighton, and every tune was just blowing me away, so I went up to the counter and asked who it was, and it turned out she was playing in town that night. We went to see her in this tiny venue – it blew us away, and Myles cried. Then we went for a few drinks around some pubs in Brighton and had a great laugh.

“When it came to writing the album, we’d booked some time away in Wales, which she ended up coming along with us for the week. There was this injection of adrenaline into the band, and we came out with two incredible songs.”
